The thought of a surgical facelift often brings to mind moderate discomfort, high cost, a long recovery, and potential complications. Luckily, today’s procedures are much faster, safer, and more effective than ever before. A modern surgical facelift can be custom-tailored to the individual patient, targeting only the areas in need, for optimal results.

However, did you know that there are now many non-surgical facelift options available, that can provide exceptional facial rejuvenation, eliminating the need to commit to a more invasive procedure? Dr. Leonard Miller and the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery offer patients a variety of facelift options in their Brookline and Boston offices. Finding the right one is easy, depending on your needs and desired results.

The Surgical Facelift

When there is an abundance of lax, sagging skin or moderate to extreme tissue laxity, a surgical facelift may be the best recommendation. Puffy jowls and crepey, sinking neck tissue will require an incision to excise unwanted skin and pull tissues taut. A neck lift can be added for maximum benefits.

Natural Surgical Facelift:

Uniquely developed by Dr. Miller, the natural surgical facelift will sculpt the cheeks, jawline, and neck. With no effect on the mouth or the upper portion of the face, the results still look natural. Dr. Miller’s natural surgical facelift is known for its rapid recovery; most patients are back at work within a week. The technique can be combined with liposuction, Botox Cosmetic, or a soft tissue filler to achieve an overall more rejuvenated appearance.

Nonsurgical Facelift Procedures

Patients with mild tissue laxity can see exceptional facial rejuvenation with a nonsurgical facelift. One or more noninvasive techniques can be combined for a temporary lift and significant reduction in facial lines. Even those with severe tissue changes, who are not able or willing to undergo a surgical procedure, may find a noninvasive technique can dramatically improve their appearance.

Soft tissue fillers in the upper cheeks:

Soft tissue fillers, such as Juvederm or Restylane, can replace diminishing volume along the cheek and underneath the eyes. This process will lift tissues, smooth skin, and sculpt the features. Even patients with a moderate to severe loss in tissue elasticity can temporarily improve their appearance. Taking only a few minutes in the office, dermal fillers provide immediate results that can last from six to nine months, sometimes up to a full year.

Botox Cosmetic:

Botox temporarily relaxes targeted muscles, smoothing fine lines and deep creases in the skin. Botulinum Toxin Type A safely restores a youthful look without causing the face to look “frozen”. By eliminating the deep lines across the forehead, Crow’s Feet at the corners of the eyes, or the 11’s (Frown Lines) between the brows, Botox takes years off the appearance. The injections take less than 15 minutes, and while the full results need two to three weeks to appear, these can last up to three months.

ThermiTight

ThermiTight is an innovative procedure using thermal energy to warm targeted layers of tissue, naturally tightening the skin. Each treatment enhances the body’s natural collagen remodeling process to ensure long-lasting result. ThermiTight can restore smooth, tight skin on the neck, jowls, and lower 1/3 of the face. Without any incisions, radio frequency skin tightening will improve facial contours, including a reduction in the ‘double chin’. The in-office ThermiTight procedure gets patients are back to their normal routine in 24 to 48 hours. Over the next several weeks, as the collagen stores are rebuilt, the results will become noticeable, and will continue to improve for up to a full year. Dr. Miller is also the medical/clinical founder for the ThermiTight treatment.

NovaThreads

Dr. Miller’s personal NovaThreads technique uses the body’s selective inflammatory response to increase collagen and strengthen tissues. Applied with a fine needle, absorbable Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are meticulously placed under the skin, along the targeted area. The body’s natural healing process targets the absorbable PDO threads, naturally lifting tissues and easing wrinkles. NovaThreads can be used along the cheeks, jowls, nasolabial folds, lower lips, and marionette lines. NovaThreads use no incisions, cause almost no pain, and require no downtime. Benefits can be seen right away and will last from 9-12 months.
