The early signs of aging can include sagging skin, the appearance of deep facial creases, and drooping jowls. Traditionally, the facelift has been a patient’s only successful option for facial lifting, however the procedure is simply not right for everyone. Dr. Leonard Miller now offers a nonsurgical option to the facelift, that can provide dramatic facial lift and rejuvenation without surgery: Silhouette InstaLift®.
About The Silhouette Instalift Procedure
Silhouette Instalift is an innovative technique for lifting tissues and smoothing facial lines, without the need for surgery or a lengthy recovery, InstaLift can lift and smooth tissues, taking years off one’s appearance. Using cutting-edge, dissolvable sutures, Dr. Miller will place a series of bi-directional cones under the targeted face and neck. These cones, made from polyglycolide/L-lactide (PLGA), are designed to contour the tissue while kick-starting the body’s own collagen build up. The youthful, natural-looking results from Silhouette InstaLift can be seen immediately and will last for years to come.
Benefits of Silhouette InstaLift include:
- Noninvasive facial rejuvenation
- Less recovery time than a traditional facelift
- Lifts and tightens lax skin
- Reduces sagging jowls
- Provides volume to sunken cheeks
- Tightens loose mid-face tissue
- Can provide neck rejuvenation
- Little risk for serious complications
- Fully resorbable
The Silhouette InstaLift technique can provide exceptional facial rejuvenation on its own. During the consultation, Dr. Miller will determine if any additional techniques, such as Botox Cosmetic or a dermal filler, can further improve the early signs of aging and provide optimal results.
The Ideal Instalift Candidate
Prospective InstaLift patients should be in their 40’s to 60’s overall good health yet experiencing mild to moderate mid and lower-face tissue sagging or facial folds, such as Marionette Lines (from the mouth to the jaw) and/or Nasolabial Folds (running from the nose to the corners of the mouth). Ideal candidates will have good skin quality and elasticity, plus strong underlying bony projections. Patients should understand the InstaLift procedure and hold realistic expectations for the final results. While the Silhouette InstaLift can provide dramatic results for many patients, it is not right for everyone. InstaLift is not recommended for those with thin skin that shows signs of advanced aging, little underlying fat, or poor facial volume. During a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Miller, it will be determined if the Silhouette InstaLift technique can provide the desired results.
The Instalift Procedure
Dr. Miller performs the InstaLift procedure in his Brookline office, normally taking less than an hour. As the technique is not considered painful, only a local anesthetic is necessary. Most patients report the InstaLift procedure feels similar to a dermal filler injection, with a slight pinch and pull.
Once Dr. Miller has determined the target area, taking careful measurements of the patient’s facial features, he will inject a local anesthetic into the incision needle puncture points. Next, he will gently use the small, Silhouette InstaLift needle, with attached dissolvable sutures, placing several fine threads and cones under the skin. Once the cones are in place, and the desired results have been achieved, the fine sutures are snipped. Patients are then free to return to their normal activities.
Instalift Recovery And Results
Silhouette InstaLift is a fantastic option for those patients seeking a ‘lunchtime lift’ procedure. There is little to no downtime required, meaning you can get back to work the same afternoon. As mild redness and swelling can be seen initially, some patients choose to return to their job the following day.
Patients should refrain from vigorously rubbing or aggressively washing the face for the first week. Makeup can be safely applied the following day. Side-effects from the InstaLift technique are generally minimal. A cold compress can be applied to the area to help reduce any swelling. Patients are also encouraged to sleep with their head elevated on pillows for the first two to three nights. While the technique is not considered painful, over the counter pain medications can be taken if tenderness persists. Avoid contact sports and high-energy activities for the first week after the InstaLift procedure. Dr. Miller will guide you through the InstaLift recovery process, providing detailed instructions and follow-up appointment information.

I moved to the Boston area a little over a year ago from California, and was concerned about finding a doctor who could not only do fillers/Botox, but was extremely knowledgeable about surgical and non-surgical options for aging going forward. Dr. Miller was a recommendation of my dermatologist (MD PhD) in California and I can only say I struck gold. In particular the results from the Instalift/Profound treatment were far and above my expectations, and seem to be IMPROVING as time goes on. I don’t think I will be able to find the combination of skill and expertise anywhere on the other coast, and he does not have his match in Boston. I am moving – first to CA and then out of the country – but I will fly back to see him!
Silhouette Instalift FAQ
Silhouette InstaLift is an FDA-approved, noninvasive treatment designed to enhance the contours of the face by lifting the underlying layers of skin. Using unique InstaLift sutures and state-of-the-art, bi-directional cones made from polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA), the targeted tissue will see a long-lasting facial rejuvenation.
The Silhouette InstaLift is designed specifically to improve sagging skin and volume loss along the mid and lower-face region. The technique can provide significant results along the cheeks, jawline, and upper neck, improving contours and restoring healthy volume.
While Dr. Miller’s InstaLift technique can provide dramatic results for most patients, it is not for everyone. If you have good skin quality and facial volume, yet are noticing Nasolabial Folds, Marionette Lines, and mid-face sagging, the treatment may be right for your needs.
Dr. Miller will perform his Silhouette InstaLift technique in one of his private treatment rooms or his personal operating suite. The procedure is performed using a small needle, meaning only a local anesthetic is needed.
There is little to no downtime required after an InstaLift treatment. The tissue may be red and mildly swollen for a day or two, however work can normally be resumed the same afternoon.
The refreshing results from InstaLift can be seen immediately. Over time, as the internal sutures heal, the body’s natural collagen supply will increase, further adding to the rejuvenating benefits. Patients can expect their InstaLift results to last for years to come.
