Women will experience a variety of changes in their appearance over time, from sagging skin to fine lines and deep creases. Unfortunately, as the tissues age, there can also be a loss of healthy volume across the cheeks and through the mid-face. Youthful facial contours can diminish, giving the appearance a tired and unhealthy look. At the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation, Dr. Leonard Miller offers patients an exciting, nonsurgical method for restoring lost facial volume using Juvederm Voluma XC.
Made from Hyaluronic Acid, Juvederm Voluma the first soft tissue filler designed specifically to treat age related volume loss. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Voluma will safely plump tissues and contour the cheeks, providing results that will last up to two years. The smooth, thick texture of Juvederm Voluma makes the product an excellent choice for shaping the jawline and easing deep wrinkles, as well.
About Juvederm Voluma
After peaking in our 20s, the skin’s levels of collagen and elastin will slowly begin to fade with each passing year. As this happens, the facial features can start to look flat, sunken, hollow, and dark. Allergan’s Juvederm Voluma, created by the makers of Botox, is a one-of-a-kind dermal filler, made especially to improve this decrease in facial volume.
Created from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body, Voluma pulls in water from surrounding tissues to create a healthy contour in the targeted area. Using Allergan’s patented Vycross® technology, Voluma is made with powerful strings of HA. Resistant to degradation, Voluma offers results that last twice as long as traditional fillers. The benefits of Voluma can be seen immediately and look fantastic for up to two years.
Juvederm Voluma can improve the look of:
- Cheekbones
- Mid-face
- Temples
- Deep wrinkles
- Nasal labial folds
An ideal candidate for Juvederm Voluma will be in overall good health. Potential patients, frustrated with age-related facial volume loss, should understand the Voluma treatment plan and hold realistic expectations for their results. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may be asked to postpone their Voluma treatment.
To find out if Juvederm Voluma is right for your needs, schedule a consultation at the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation. At this time, Dr. Miller will perform a thorough examination of the facial tissues, determining the best treatment(s) for achieving the desired results. While Voluma can provide excellent benefits on its own, the injectable can also be an effective part of a larger aesthetic treatment plan, helping to obtain optimal aesthetic results.
Voluma in Boston
Dr. Miller applies Juvederm Voluma in one of his private treatment rooms, as the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation. Each procedure normally takes less than half an hour. Most patients do not consider treatment with Voluma to be painful, as it is premixed with lidocaine, a topical anesthetic. The treatment area will become lightly numb with each injection. However, for total patient comfort, Dr. Miller can add a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic.
I moved to the Boston area a little over a year ago from California, and was concerned about finding a doctor who could not only do fillers/Botox, but was extremely knowledgeable about surgical and non-surgical options for aging going forward. Dr. Miller was a recommendation of my dermatologist (MD PhD) in California and I can only say I struck gold. In particular the results from the Instalift/Profound treatment were far and away above my expectations, and seem to be IMPROVING as time goes on. I don’t think I will be able to find the combination of skill and expertise anywhere on the other coast, and he does not have his match in Boston. I am moving – first to CA and then out of the country – but I will fly back to see him!
Voluma Results
The results from Juvederm Voluma can be seen right away. Side-effects such as mild bruising, redness, and tenderness can be expected, however, these will fade over the following week. No downtime is required after a Voluma treatment, getting patients back to work or school immediately. Makeup can be applied the same day as injections, as well. The benefits from Juvederm Voluma will last for up to two years before beginning to fade. At this time, a maintenance Voluma session can further extend the benefits.
Side-effects from Voluma are considered minimal and more serious complications are rare. However, as with any injectable treatment, there is always a small chance for facial asymmetry, infection, and nerve damage to occur. Patients are encouraged to only put their trust in a respected plastic surgeon, with an extensive background and experience with injectable treatments. Dr. Leonard Miller has more than three decades of surgical and noninvasive experience. He is the leading provider of injectable treatments in the Boston area.
