Sculptra Treatments in Boston & Brookline
With aging comes a loss of facial volume, as the body’s collagen and fat stores are naturally depleted. Once young and soft, the features can begin to look sharp and thin.
Hollows under the eyes and along the cheeks make the face look tired, and in some cases, unhealthy. Years of exposure to the harsh elements, stress, weight fluctuations, smoking, and genetic disposition can make these changes even more noticeable. To restore a youthful appearance, Dr. Leonard Miller and the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation offer patients an effective, noninvasive option for replenishing lost facial volume: Sculptra.
About Sculptra®
Sculptra is a one-of-a-kind dermal filler, made from Poly-L-Actic Acid, designed specially to improve facial contours. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration, Sculptra safely restores volume and shape to the skin. The injectable will fill in hollow areas under the eyes and cheeks, smooth fine lines, and ease the deep creases that accompany early aging. As the filler plumps the skin, it encourages the body’s collagen production, for long-lasting benefits.
Sculptra can improve:
- Nasolabial Folds
- Marionette Lines
- Smile Lines
- Hollow Cheeks
- Chin and Jaw Contours
Anyone wanting to improve the early signs of aging may make a good candidate for Sculptra. The ideal patient will be in good health, understand the Sculptra process, and have realistic expectations for their results. Those with a known allergy to lidocaine, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, pregnant, or nursing should not have a treatment with Sculptra. Patients with a cold, rash, or skin infection may be asked to postpone their Sculptra treatment. Prior to treatment, Dr. Miller and his esthetician will provide a brief consultation appointment to determine if Sculptra is right for the individual patient.
Sculptra® Injections
At the Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation, Sculptra injections are performed in a private treatment room, with each session taking about half an hour. The injections are not considered painful, as Sculptra is premixed with lidocaine (a topical anesthetic) for comfort. Upon request, Dr. Miller can include an additional local or topical anesthetic for increased patient comfort. No downtime is required after the Sculptra session; patients are out of the office and back to their busy schedule the same afternoon.
Sculptra® Results
Sculptra can create a contoured youthful appearance that does not look frozen or overdone. The benefits from Sculptra are not seen immediately after treatment. However, as the body’s collagen production is enhanced, the results from Sculptra slowly improve. Most patients will see the benefits of treatment in about six weeks, then over the following three to four months, the final results will appear. The plumped, contoured tissues will remain for up to two years. At which time, a repeat Sculptra session at Boston Center for Facial Rejuvenation can maintain benefits. Optimal results from Sculptra will require three to four treatments, spaced about four weeks apart.
Initially after a Sculptra treatment, patients may note mild swelling, redness, and bruising around the injection site. Itching is common, as well, but will quickly resolve. More serious reactions, such as allergic reaction, nodules, and facial asymmetry are rare but can occur. Patients are encouraged to only seek the services of an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Miller. This will ensure they receive the safest and most effective facial rejuvenation results possible. Dr. Miller has more than 20 years of experience with surgical and noninvasive aesthetic procedures, providing the top services in the Boston area.
