A wise Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,”. Those words could not be any truer when talking about wrinkles. Sunscreen and high-quality skincare products can do wonders to stave away the early signs of aging. However, no matter how hard we work, wrinkles and fine lines will eventually find a way to creep in. Once wrinkles form, it is difficult to completely eliminate these facial lines. Luckily, with the help of the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, there are several – extremely successful – methods to reduce wrinkles, and restore a younger complexion.

Four Ways to Fight Wrinkles:

  1. Botox Cosmetic: Botox is the number one wrinkle-reducing treatment around the world; and for good reason. Botulinum Toxin Type A relaxes the targeted muscles, and as they release, the associated fine lines or deep creases smooth out. Botox produces short term improvement, lasting up to three months. However, with regular injections, long-term improvement can be seen in lines around the eyes and the forehead.
  1. Fraxel and Ablative Lasers: Fractionated lasers, such as Clear + Brilliant, or radiofrequency treatments, like Endymed Intensif, can improve the look of wrinkles by stimulating collagen formation. The skin will be tighter, lifted, and smoother for months to come. These primarily stimulating collagen formation in and around the wrinkles.
  1. Microneedling: Medical Microneedling is an innovative technique that gently creates thousands of extremely small punctures in the targeted skin. These tiny injuries kick-start the body’s healing process, encouraging collage production and new cell growth. The result is smoother, rejuvenated tissue.
  1. Dermal Fillers: Soft tissue fillers plump tissues, providing immediate improvement for static lines, or those resulting from a loss in tissue elasticity. Made from a range of molecule types and sizes, fillers can be used to smooth everything from the fine lines around the eyes to deep Marionette Lines, at the corners of the mouth. Benefits can last from six months to over two years; with repeat treatments showing even longer improvements.

In addition to Botox Cosmetic, lasers, microneedling, and dermal fillers, Dr. Leonard Miller can recommend a variety of topical treatments that can also reverse wrinkling. These include skincare regimens containing peptides and Retin A. Not only do these cutting-edge topical options improve existing fine lines and creases, when used in conjunction with one of the above noninvasive wrinkle treatments, benefits are magnified and can last months longer.

For the best results, consistent, repetitive treatments can provide optimal benefits. This keeps lines from getting any more pronounced, and thus can provide the longest lasting benefits.

The right method for treating wrinkles will vary from patient to patient, depending on the individual situation.
