Smooth skin is something that most of us take for granted until it begins to erode. Fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars, for example, may all contribute to an unevenness in the surface of your skin. This can make you look and feel not your best as the human eye is hardwired to translate smooth texture as more youthful. If you’ve ever had a facial then you know how much more vital and energized you feel afterward when your skin is glowing. Any imperfections seem to melt away as your skin’s surface is plump, hydrated and smooth. The only downside to a facial is that the results don’t last forever. For a more permanent improvement, lasers are a great option. Here’s how to achieve a new you with PicoSure®.

Fine lines and wrinkles may contribute to unevenness in your skin.

Boston Center for Plastic Surgery is Best in Boston for Lasers

The important thing when it comes to the PicoSure® laser or any other aesthetic treatment is finding the right procedure or procedures for your individual needs. This is why it is always smart to see someone who is part of a practice like Boston Center for Plastic Surgery. We offer our patients the full range of treatment options from surgical to non-surgical which means that we will never recommend a procedure that isn’t right for you simply because it’s the only thing on offer.  At Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, we also have an excellent team of aestheticians. Laser Expertise Matters

In the last decade, there has been a huge increase in the number of non-surgical options for skin rejuvenation. Patients want to be able to improve their skin tone and texture without:

  • Anesthesia
  • Significant downtime
  • Incisions

That’s why, today, there are lasers to address:

  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun spots
  • Redness
  • Broken blood vessels
  • “Crepey” texture
  • Scars
  • Mild sagging

As discussed, the key to an exemplary result is choosing the appropriate laser or lasers to deliver on your goals. This is why laser expertise matters.

What Makes PicoSure® Different?

The PicoSure® laser was originally developed to remove tattoos. While still used for that, its unique makeup of 3 different wave lengths of laser energy also make it a nice option for addressing any of your pigment issues. Working in trillionths of a second bursts of photothermal energy, thus the name, allows the PicoSure® to improve the look of your skin by targeting a wide range of pigment issues without damaging the surrounding skin. This is critical. It is also customizable in terms of the size of the laser beam. This allows us to treat all of your pigment issues such as:

  • Freckles
  • Dark spots or patches

Many patients don’t realize how aging pigmentary issues can be until they see their end result: a noticeably more youthful and vibrant look to their skin. And as we all know, when our skin looks better, we feel better in it.

Ideal Candidate for PicoSure®

The ideal candidate for a PicoSure® laser treatment is any man or woman in good overall health who is bothered by the appearance of:

  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • “Crepey”, uneven skin texture
  • Sun spots
  • Pigment issues
  • Acne scars

It is vital that your skin be in good health when you have your treatment so please delay if you have any kind of active infection.

PicoSure® Procedure, What to Expect

As with most lasers, the treatment itself is fast. A typical session takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes. You will notice an improvement after just one session although we typically recommend a series of 3-6 depending on the intensity of your needs.  Most patients describe the procedure as occasionally uncomfortable, but not painful. A member of our team will first numb your treatment area with a topical or local anesthetic in order to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Besides being extremely effective, the other thing that patients love about a PicoSure® procedure is that there is no downtime. You can return to your regular routine immediately. However, you do need to be diligent about wearing sunscreen, and staying out of the sun.
